THE ALL ENGLAND KOI SHOW 2022 RESULTS

We held The All England Koi Show on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of September, this was our 35th Open Show. Work began on Wednesday, prior to the Show, and, as always, there were lots of South East Koi Club members ready to set up the Show, together with a team of enthusiastic students from the Commercial Fisheries Department of Hadlow College who helped set up the vats at the Showground, so by the end of the day, we were filling the vats which continued over night. By Thursday lunchtime the major part of the work was completed and it was just a case of sorting out a few cosmetics.

Now is the time you get a chance to talk to everyone and greet the Dealers as they arrive, and see the Show coming together.

On Friday 339 Koi were benched and more Koi Dealers arrived, all our regulars that we all know.

Mark and his team from Cuttlebrook set up their stand, in their usual position, opposite the entrance to the hall with their impressive red Torri Gate we have come to recognise over the years. Behind Cuttlebrook.

JPD, our main Show Sponsor, generously supplied their premium quality Koi food for all of the exhibitors and the South East Koi Club members who had set up and taken down the Show, had built a large display of their extensive range of Koi food and their JPD banners were secured all around the Show vats. A big thank you to JPD for sponsoring the Show.

Brian Bailey, the Commercial Fisheries Manager at Hadlow College joined us again to promote the College courses for students wishing to train in fish management. His students always join us and help set up the Show. We had an interesting chat about Koi, Carp and other Course Fish; and Brian had on display stuffed replicas of Pike, Perch and Carp and explained that these were used to train students how to handlefish, “you can’t let them train using live fish in case they drop them”, he said.

This year we arranged some entertainment for our younger visitors including a bouncy castle, glitter tattoos and face painting which kept them occupied and proved to be a great success.

On Sunday afternoon, we thanked our main sponsor JPD Premium Koi Food and all our other sponsors who had helped to make the Show a success, then made the presentations. The trophies were Japanese painted plates for the Major Award winners and a number of glass trophies for the other winners. Lee Manning took the Grand Champion Award again with his superb Sanke supplied by Simon Austin of Nippon Nishikigoi.

It is always a sad time to see the Show breaking down but a pleasure to see fellow Koi keepers and Koi Dealers helping one another to get on the road for the return journey.
